A creative urban strategist, Suzie brings over twenty years’ experience in the building design industry. She has worked in architectural practices and not for profit in London and Hong Kong as well as design advocacy amongst communities and decision makers. Through her diverse background in sustainable architecture, urban design, design education programs, design review and youth advocacy work she has developed strong design and communication skills, able to quickly assess and critique design proposals and communicate their merits to a wide range of audiences. Suzie is an experienced and engaging facilitator, adept at navigating different audiences from youth to local councillors, to draw out ideas and manage measured exchanges.
Suzie confidently adapts her approach to any task, from redrafting design guidelines to researching contextual influences to define location-specific place identity and community needs. She frequently draws on her international design background to brings fresh ideas to the Perth landscape, from activation to design interventions.
Suzie has both sat on and trained design review panels across London, being appointed a Design Council CABE Built Environment Expert (BEE) based on her research into young people and the built environment. She continues to advocate for better places for teenagers and young people through her work at element, successfully engaging young people in the design of their local areas.
She is fascinated by town squares and ‘spaces in-between’ in cities like Barcelona, New York and London, that reflect their diverse local cultures and communities.
