The Project

The University of Western Australia (UWA) owns and manages ‘Sports Park’ located on Brockway Road, Nedlands. It is a significant active recreation space (approximately 35 hectares) and part of a broader regional sporting complex that also includes state athletics, basketball, swimming and HBF Stadium. The assets are well patronised however there was a need to upgrade these to better meet user needs. There was also a need for a long-term club management framework.

Our Role

We worked to deliver a master plan grounded in a range of financial, environmental and socially sustainable outcomes, informed through stakeholder engagement.

Outcomes

Our approach focused on understanding first hand the needs of diverse user groups and clubs, so these could be accommodated into the future. We improved connectivity within and beyond the site, and to a broader range of sporting facilities. We created a framework and momentum around delivery of contemporary and purpose-built facilities that were compatible with the park’s major uses. The final product output was a master plan and accompanying detailed report.
