The Project

Stirk Park is located in leafy Kalamunda and is one of the town centre’s most loved public spaces with large shady trees. It is home to many local community events and functions. While it is highly valued by the local community, aging facilities and amenities called for a fresh design and future plan that maintained its prominent role.

Our Role

Working with landscape architect Emerge, element were responsible of delivering a community and stakeholder engagement program to canvas various interests and needs and ensure these were reflected in a new landscape masterplan.

Outcomes

We engaged with Shire staff and Councillors and various external project stakeholders and the community to ensure the varied needs of sporting users and the community were addressed. A high level of local interest was generated through visioning and scenario development workshops and online surveys, with in excess of 600 responses. Limited available funds for capital improvements meant we devised strategies that enabled short, medium and longer term improvements that could be delivered in line with annual budgets, to complement the Stirk Park masterplan.
