Scarborough is set to become Western Australia’s premier beachfront destination and its new swimming pool has become an iconic local landmark, overlooking the coastline and picturesque Indian Ocean. A multipurpose destination that services locals and visitors from further afield, it is situated on land that is an A Class Recreation Reserve.

ROLE

element worked with the project team to secure development approval for the Scarborough Beach Pool, a complex process given the land tenure and status as an A Class Recreation Reserve, reserved under the Metropolitan Region Scheme. The project was funded and delivered by City of Stirling who was also the proponent, for development on land within the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority Area, with the MRA also the planning authority.

OUTCOMES

We provided statutory planning advice and due diligence investigations that in turn informed development opportunities and concept planning. We also prepared and lodged the development application for the project and secured development approval from City of Stirling.
