Port Coogee Community Capacity Building

FRASERS PROPERTY | Port Coogee, WA

THE
PLACE

Port Coogee is an award-winning premier beachside suburb located five kilometres south of Fremantle, Western Australia. Boasting a world class marina, swimming beaches, parks, playgrounds and a marina village, it is an established but still growing community. With a strong sense of pride and ownership, the community profile includes downsizers and families with adult children, with generally higher disposable incomes compared to greater Perth.

OUR
ROLE

We were appointed by Frasers Property to develop a program that supported their objectives of building capacity and connection amongst the resident community and local businesses. Some residents had taken ownership of running events, newsletters and social groups and our work sought to consolidate and support this, assisting with establishing both governance frameworks and informal social networks.

OUTCOMES

Our work resulted in:

  • Design, distribution and analysis of an online survey to gather values, opinions, perceptions and improvement ideas;
  • Convening and facilitating social club meetings to identify calendar of events, project scopes and implementation responsibilities;
  • Creation of stronger networks and relationships between Frasers Property, City of Cockburn and the local community; and
  • Transition of program implementation responsibility from Frasers Property to the community and the City.
WHAT WE DELIVERED
  • Workshop design and facilitation
  • Community engagement programs
  • Digital engagement
  • Place activation
