PLACE

Located on the corner of Labouchere Road and Charles Street, Pinnacle sits directly opposite the gardens and main entry to one of Perth’s most visited destinations – Perth Zoo. It is a strategic site, only a few minutes from the CBD and well serviced by public transport. The planning process for Pinnacle was significant, given it was the first Development Application to be lodged within the newly created South Perth Station Special Control Area.

ROLE

element delivered planning advice and due diligence to inform development scenarios and design, followed by a major development application for the initial apartment building. We worked with City of South Perth to steer the application through the Joint Development Assessment Panel with considerable interest from the local community.

OUTCOMES

As the first Development Application within the South Perth Station Special Control Area, the ability to meet specified commercial floor space plot ratio requirements was paramount. Noting community concerns regarding the issue of height and scale more broadly in South Perth, we ensured the development respected the attributes of, and interface with adjoining low-scale heritage development.
