Perth Water Buneenboro Locality Plan
Perth Water Buneenboro is an iconic place with an abundance of natural amenity, history and activity, and one of our capital’s crowning features. With an increase in major projects, visitor numbers and new river and land-based activities, the Perth Water Precinct is transforming. To better connect people with the river and plan for visitation growth, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
We have led the coordination and development of the Perth Water Precinct Plan in collaboration with the Perth Water Vision Group, comprised of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (lead), City of South Perth and other State and local government agencies.
A key aspect of the development of the Plan was the delivery of a wide-ranging and innovative community and stakeholder engagement program through face-to-face workshops with government agencies, community groups and the Whadjuk-Noongar community, online surveys and a cutting-edge digital ideas mapping tool, attracting over 2000 unique ideas and generating extensive community conversations about Perth Water’s future.
The Plan sets a vision and overarching framework for developments, uses and activities on and around Perth Water, define landscape characteristics and environmental enhancements, providing a platform for tourism, recreation, heritage, culture and community opportunities to unfold. An accompanying five-year action plan provides a roadmap to address key challenges and opportunities to achieve the vision, with responsibilities assigned to relevant government agencies to enhance successful delivery.
