The Project

Mitchell Creek Green is a new suburb located within the fast growing City of Palmerston, approximately 27 kilometres South of the Darwin CBD and five minutes from Palmerston city centre. The boutique, 450 lot development is playing a key role in shifting perceptions of higher density living surrounded by nature in suburban Darwin.

Our Role

Our work across planning and design has ensured Mitchell Creek Green’s product mix and design responds to the enviable site characteristics, incorporating a network of interconnected linear parklands and ensuring a strong interface with the Mitchell Creek open space corridor. A key focus of our work is to provide leadership in new product development – challenging the norm of standard residential product, whilst ensuring a mix appropriate for the Northern Territory’s unique lifestyle, environmental and market.

Outcomes

We worked with the local council and builders to develop building typologies and design guidelines for small lot product ranging from 300m2 and 360m2 which respond to local issues such as stormwater flows and termite barrier issues for zero-lot boundaries, whilst contributing positively to the public realm. Our ongoing role is centred on design assessment of new homes against the project’s design guidelines, whilst adapting design solutions to respond to emerging issues as required.
