The Project

The Kal City Centre project will transform major precincts in the Kalgoorlie Central Business District into a vibrant, economically strong and diverse centre. It will replace outdated infrastructure with a new approach based on community consultation, best practice place making and urban design.

Stretching from Hannan Street at St Barbara’s Square to the rear of the Market Arcade, the project will deliver children’s play areas including water play, artwork, night lighting and CCTV, modern paving and street furniture, gardens, alfresco dining and entertainment areas.

The City has recognised the importance of representing traditional Wongatha/Wangkatha cultural through the public realm, and as such as identified locations for a series of significant artworks.

Our Role

element’s Arts and Culture team have been appointed to manage the procurement and delivery of these public artworks. In liaison with experienced Kalgoorlie-based consultants, we will be appointing local Wongatha/Wangkatha artists, and assisting through the development, fabrication and installation of the artworks.
