Cultural Heritage Strategy

THE
PLACE

The City of Swan has a rich and multifaceted heritage and boasts some of the state’s oldest colonial buildings, which are highly valued by stakeholders and the community. With the area’s heritage recognised as a vital part of its social fabric and identity, the City identified the need to develop a Cultural Heritage Strategy to create a clear and unified framework to articulate its commitment and approach to managing various assets, in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

ROLE

element were appointed by the City to engage with a range of stakeholders, build on the depth of high quality work that had already been completed by its internal team, and create a Cultural Heritage Strategy that would be accepted and utilised by all parties.

OUTCOMES

  • A Cultural Heritage Strategy that protects, supports and promotes its assets, inclusive of strategies and actions to enhance the City’s current approach;
  • A separate technical report that provides detailed information and documents the development process;
  • An easy-to-read, visually engaging format suitable for reading by a wide range of stakeholders; and
  • Council adoption and active delivery by the administration and stakeholders.
