The Project

Claremont Station improvements will soon allow for increase service frequency and allow direct access to the Forrestfield-Airport Link. These works have involved building new rail infrastructure so Forrestfield-Airport Link trains can drop passengers off at Claremont Station and turn around.

Work on the Claremont Station Project is taking place between Showgrounds, Claremont and Swanbourne stations, with additional work occurring west of Swanbourne Station.

As part of this project, as with all PTA / METRONET projects, Noongar placemaking and public art are significant components. For Claremont Station, a number of significant commissions (managed by others) have already been installed, with further secondary commissions soon to commence.

Our Role

element’s Arts and Culture team have been working with PTA and the Noongar Reference Group to commission a series of small commissions by Noongar artist Seantelle Walsh, between Claremont and Swanbourne Stations. These works, whilst minor in nature, will enhance the experience of visitors to these stations, and will recognise the significance of this area in Noongar culture.

Seantelle’s artworks will soon be installed – as a ground plane artwork, integrated with seating, and through signage.
