The Project

The Claremont Showgrounds Management Plan was prepared by element to support and guide the site’s long-term development vision and provide a development management and approval framework for the Showgrounds.

Our Role

To prepare the Management Plan, we undertook extensive community, stakeholder and government engagement. This was to ensure appropriate checks and balances were built into the Plan to provide certainty for RASWA and the surrounding community.  The Showgrounds are zoned Parks and Recreation under the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) and accordingly there were a limited number of recognised permitted uses. The preparation of a site-specific plan recognised the unique nature of the site, its history and its importance to the State and accordingly a wider range of appropriate and considered uses were identified and documented in the Plan.

It also covered matters such as ongoing management of the facility, access and parking, staging and development requirements. The Management Plan was endorsed by the WAPC in December 2019.

Outcomes

The Engagement Team produced an in-depth report of the outcomes from the engagement services throughout the duration of the Management Plan project. This pointed to the key concerns and thoughts of the community in relation to the Management Plan.
