The Project

Reaching from the coastal hubs of North Beach and Scarborough to inland residential suburbs Dianella and Inglewood, the City of Stirling is, by population, Western Australia’s largest local government area. Home to significant retail centres, educational institutions, industrial areas and residential suburbs, the City is experiencing significant redevelopment and revitalisation. With this growth and change comes the opportunity for the City to establish itself as a leader in cultural and civic experiences.

As part the City’s ongoing transformation, and in line with key global trends focusing on enlivening and enriching activity centres and main streets, the City has identified the opportunity for Christmas decorations, lights and activities to enhance key precincts as must-see Christmas destinations, encouraging increased visitation with economic flow on to local businesses. This provides a significant opportunity to demonstrate the City’s unique identity, heritage and community values and set a new standard in Christmas experiences for Perth.

Our Role

element was engaged by the City to establish strategic directions and opportunities within six key precincts - evolving its Christmas program and offer through a layered approach ranging from ephemeral experiences to civic decorations.

Outcomes

A report and framework for delivery was developed from extensive desktop research into benchmark projects and key trends within the activation and festivals sector.
