Canning Beach Promenade, Applecross
On behalf of Edge Visionary Living, we developed and delivered an integrated needs analysis and place plan, which built project interest, trust and advocacy. Our community and stakeholder engagement contributed towards creation of a place strategy for the development of this landmark waterfront destination, one committed to setting new standards in design, public realm and destination creation.

Our work combined big picture planning issues –connectivity, trends, height, density, with the important finer details –community values, desirable behaviours, uses and activities, retail mix and public space design. Our social research, digital surveys, stakeholder interviews, facilitated workshops and online engagement enabled us to provide timely advice on stakeholder risks, needs, viable community benefits and development opportunities.
Identified community benefits were reflected within the development proposal, which ensured the development demonstrated a response to community needs and communicated a clear vision for the site’s future. The Chair of the Metro Central DAP commented that the development application is of an international standard and the needs analysis and place strategy were key to forming one of the most robust proposals they have seen.
